  To contribute to the advancement of scholarly research on local self government and democracy through historical, comparative, international and interdisciplinary approaches.
  2. Advancement of Local Autonomy

To contribute to the advancement of Korean local autonomy through conducting survey, research, training and consulting.

  3. Advancement of International Understanding and Cooperation

To contribute to the development of understanding and cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Germany, through joint research, seminars and personnel exchanges.

  The Center for Local Autonomy, the Graduate School of Local Autonomy and the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation cooperate in (1) academic research on local autonomy, (2) educational training aimed at local government productivity and democracy, and (3) international exchanges of local government officials, members, scholars and students.
